Prayer makes the difference. I’m learning that when I pray, God intervenes and life goes from dismal to divine! I’d love to share with you some real examples from my life:
Prayer Brings Divine Grace
In our hurry to make our early morning flight, my husband and I left our computer in the rental car. It had slipped under the seat, and once we were on the plane, we realized it was missing. My stomach immediately felt sick. My husband said, “Please start praying.” He called the rental company, and for whatever reason, they couldn’t find our info in their system. It was looking pretty dismal. We had to turn off our phones for the flight, so we just prayed and left it to God. I thought, “Why would God give us favor? It was totally our bad.”
But God gives grace and mercy even when we do dumb stuff!
Once we got home, Maleya from Alamo rental cars called. She had personally walked out to the parking lot and searched every car until she found our computer! She shipped it to us over night, and we had our computer back safe and sound. Wow!! God works through His people!!
Dismal to Divine!
We prayed, and God gave us His divine grace.
“God is all mercy and grace—not quick to anger, He is rich in love.” Psalm 145:8
Prayer Brings Divine Protection
I think I met an angel on the way to the Dallas Zoo! In a dangerous and seedy part of Dallas, my little Dylan had to use the bathroom…really badly…he couldn’t hold it another second! Reluctantly we stopped at a gas station, and I took my boys inside where the employees were behind bulletproof glass. There were several people in line ahead of us, but immediately the cashier spoke to me through the speaking device:
“How can I help you and those babies?”
I was surprised that she was speaking to me but I said, “Thank you! May we have the key to the restroom?”
She replied, “Jesus, Jesus (in a prayerful way)…I’ll take you!”
I was really shocked at her reaction! This sweet lady came outside and walked us to the bathroom. I sympathized with the other customers in line, but she insisted on accompanying us. There were several scary characters around us, but she gave them a “look” and just took us under her wing.
Before we began our trip we prayed that God would keep us safe and surround us with His angels…and I have no doubt that He did!
Dismal to Divine!
We prayed, and God gave us His divine protection.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
Prayer Brings Divine Strength
I made chocolate chip muffins for my family and the wonderful aroma was so incredibly tempting to me! However I was fasting, and I was also on a journey of healing my mind and body, so I didn’t partake.
I went to my bathroom and dropped to my knees in prayer…pleading with God to give me strength.
You have to understand that eating, actually bingeing, held a power over me for a long time. Instead of eating just one, I’d eat 6 or 8…no joke! It was as though I couldn’t ever get enough. I now understand that I was trying to fill myself with an excess of rich foods to satisfy empty places only God could fill. I had been holding back a part of my heart, mind and body from God…it was an illusion of keeping control.
God impressed on me, “You can do this, the power inside of you is so much greater!” Whatever has an unhealthy power over you and me, we can overcome by the power in Jesus’ name! Yes it’s difficult (our flesh is strong) but The Lord is STRONGER and He assures us victory through Jesus over anything that is keeping us in bondage!
Dismal to Divine!
I prayed, and God gave me His strength.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.” Psalm 28:7
Prayer Brings Divine Restoration
Some days I wake up and every thought is negative. On one such day I needed my heart to be cleaned; to be washed in the truth and refreshed by God’s presence! I went into my closet for 5 minutes, shut the door, and literally got on my face and let Him clean out my heart.
In Just 5 min of concentrated time, Jesus created in me a clean heart by His amazing grace, love and power!
When I concentrate on Him, bow low before Him, meditate on His word and ask Him to help me, He does! Just being in His presence restores me!
We all have trials and troubles, but we don’t have to face them alone. God is there and He offers His restoration! The Lord will wash away our negative thoughts and renew our minds! He will give us a fresh reminder of what we have….and especially His grace and love.
It’s manna from heaven, and we need a fresh supply daily!
Dismal to Divine.
I prayed, and God gave me divine restoration.
“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”
Divine grace, protection, strength, restoration (and so much more) can all be had through prayer with our amazing heavenly Father.
